Infertility

  • Primary infertility – is the failure for a couple to conceive after attempting for at least one year (if under 35), or 6 months (if 35 and over). 
  • Secondary infertility – is difficulty conceiving after already having conceived (either to term or had a miscarriage).

Infertility in married women age 16-20 = 4.5%
Infertility in married women age 35-40 = 31.8%
Infertility in married women age 40+ = 70%

 

What are the causes?

  • stress
  • sexually transmitted diseases
  • contraceptives used a long time
  • diet & life style
  • certain conditions:
    • male problems = 35%
    • ovulation problem = 20%
    • tubal problem = 20%
    • endometriosis = 10%
    • cervical factors = 5%

 

What is the treatment and what is the frequency?

Acupuncture: 3 times a week 
or
1 time a week (while taking herbs)

 

Herbs: 3 times a day
under 30 yrs old  ----------      2 months
under 35 yrs old -----------      3 months
over 35 yrs old  ------------      4+ months
